COLCHESTER
MEN WIN 6TH IN A ROW ADVANCE
INTO FIRST PLACE IN EASTERN DIVISION

- MONSON, MA -The Colchester Thunder improved to 9-5
winning both ends of a double header against the Monson
Knights this past Sunday. Behind great pitching
performances by Matt Brown (7 innings, 7 hits, 4
strike outs, 1 earned run) and Brian Apperson (6
innings, 5 hits, 5 strike outs, 1 earned run), the
Thunder won game one 6-2 and game two 9-7. Vinnie
Ceceri provided most of the offense in game one as
he went 2 for 3 with his 3rd Home Run of the season, a 3
run shot in the 6th, the longest ever hit by a Thunder
player. Brian Apperson and Ken Plante each
collected 2 hits in game two while Brett Kingsley
went 3 for 3 with his first home run of his career. This
weekend, The Colchester Thunder travel to

THUNDER KEEP ROLLING - TAKE TWO FROM WALLINGORD WHITE

6, 2008 Colchester's offense keeps on
rolling while the pitching continues to get it done in
the Thunder's first double header sweep of the season
against the Wallingford Sox. Matt Brown
pitched a 4 hit gem getting ground ball after ground
ball for a complete game shutout in an 11 - 0 win.
While everyone in the line up had at least one hit, the
offense was led by Vinnie Ceceri's 3 run 1st
inning homer. Chris Ferrante collected 2
RBI's and 2 runs, Brett Kingsley went 3 for 3, and Jim
"Frenchy" Blanchette and Bruce
"Three Hole" Morrison each collected two
hits.
The Thunder kept it rolling in game two with a 13 - 6
win, scoring 5 in the 6th after Wallingford closed to
within 2. After an 8 run lead, the Sox scored 3 in
the 5th off of Chris Ferrante and 3 more in the
6th off of Ken Plante. Despite the late
scoring, Ferrante pitched shutout ball for 4 innings to
pick up his first win in a Thunder uniform. The
offense scored early and often as Ferrante went 3 for 4
with his 2nd home run, 4 RBI's, & 2 runs. Matt
Brown continues to hit the cover off the ball going
3 for 4 with 3 RBI's and 3 Runs, and Rick Kozak also
contributed 3 hits and 3 runs.

* The Thunder have outscored their
opponents 43 to 10 over their 4
game win streak
* Matt Brown is 2 - 0 with 2 complete
games and a 1.08 ERA in his last
two starts
* Chris Ferrante and Jim Blanchette
have extended their hitting
streaks to 6 games
* Bruce Morrison has had a hit in all 8
games he has played with the
Thunder
* At 7 - 5, this is the latest point in
a season that the Thunder had
a winning record (they were 5 - 4 after 9 games in 2007)
